The Role

Wimbledon High School is seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of PE with a hockey and football specialism to support the development of our flourishing sport provision.

As a Teacher of PE, you will plan and deliver engaging, well-organised PE lessons that inspire pupils of all abilities to develop a passion for physical activity and discover the joys of sport. You will play a key role in implementing the PE curriculum and related policies while contributing significantly to the PE Department's co-curricular programme.

In addition to your core teaching responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in the development of our football provision. Having reached the ISFA U13 Finals last year, Wimbledon High School already has a strong footballing community and culture and we are now looking for someone to build on this success by creating inclusive training opportunities and a competitive fixture list for students of all abilities. As the hockey at Wimbledon High goes from strength to strength, we are looking to appoint a candidate with experience and excellence in this area too, who can contribute meaningfully to the provision and development of this sport as well.

We are looking for a teacher who can demonstrate excellent teaching practice, strong subject knowledge and competence in football and hockey. Above all, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher who will inspire pupils and help nurture a thriving culture of sport across the school.

Sport at Wimbledon High School

The PE facilities at Wimbledon High are outstanding. On site we have a sports hall, a fitness suite/erg. room, a tennis court–sized astro-turf area and a heated indoor 25m swimming pool, all of which are used extensively.

We are also fortunate to have access to the original site of the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Nursery Road, just a 10-minute walk from the school. These facilities include a full-size, floodlit astro-turf hockey pitch and five floodlit netball/tennis courts.

Our thriving co-curricular programme caters to students of all abilities. Core competitive sports include hockey, football, netball, swimming, gymnastics, rowing, cross country, athletics, tennis and cricket.
