Reporting organizationally to the Senior Telecoms Manager, the Venue Telecom Manager (VTCM) will be a key member of the FIFA27 Technology team. The VTCM will work closely with the Technology teams in all the stadiums and IBCC and Zurich, as well as other stakeholders, to deliver critical Network and telecommunications solutions for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the planning, delivery, and operations of telecommunications infrastructure and services across competition and non-competition venues, including:
Broadcast Contribution Network (BCN)
Event Network (WAN, MAN, LAN, WLAN, cabling, containment)
Internet, VLAN, VPN services, VoIP
Mobile Network and Private 5G
Push-to-Talk/Private Mobile Radios
Spectrum Management
CATV/IPTV
Rate Card services (Internet/IP Codecs)
- Deploy and oversee technology services across various venues.
- Stadia, training sites, operation centers, accreditation centers, ticketing centers, hotels, airports, and transport hubs.
- Ensure compliance with FIFA standards in the integration of tournament technology services, such as Accreditation and Ticketing, with the FIFA Event Network environment.
- Collaborate with Football Technology Innovation suppliers, media, broadcasters, and other functional stakeholders to define and fulfill network and cybersecurity requirements.
- Coordinate on-site IT and telecom technical teams for infrastructure testing, acceptance, and operations.
- Manage incident resolution and ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs), escalating risks and issues to the Technology Command Center (TCC).
- Support spectrum management efforts, including interference resolution in collaboration with regulatory authorities and venue teams.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting, including daily updates to the TCC and post-event analysis.
- Participate in pre-tournament training, readiness exercises, and rehearsals.
Education
- University degree or similar higher education, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of IT/Technology experience, preferably in major events.
- Strong knowledge of IT and telecommunications technologies, including CATV, AV systems, radio communications, VLANs and related areas.
- Experience coordinating with diverse teams and managing vendor relationships.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and process-driven with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in the Sports / major event industry is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Manager with experience in similar projects
- Good knowledge of venue technology services across major sporting events
- Have up to date knowledge and project management expertise in all event related technologies, including, all types of technology business solutions, community access TV (CATV), radio communications, wired communication, printing, broadcast contribution network, spectrum, audio and visual.
- Ability to always maintain a professional demeanour. Consistently interacts professionally and works productively with all levels of employee.
- Excellent cross group collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead virtual teams across groups, conflict management and driving consensus to deliver on program milestones
- Good Leadership skills and able to manage and motivate other team members
- Highly adept at consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building and facilitation
- Excellent verbal and written communication, training, and presentation skills
- Ability to adapt speech to audience coming from a broad spectrum of disciplines and with various levels of technical knowledge
- Leadership and accountability across all areas of relevance
- Strong political acumen and adaptable to a wide range of working environments
Certifications & Requirements
- Right to work in Brazil
- Fluent in English
- Native or Fluent in Portuguese
- Proficiency in any other FIFA language (FR / ES / GER) is an asset

- Ability to relocate to Rio de Janeiro
- Willing to travel within Brazil (up to 30%), with some trips with a long duration (15 days or more)
