TITLE: Athletic Trainer Intern (Pride)

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Orlando Pride interns will have the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and vision of
Orlando Pride, understanding the importance of how a professional sports organization works
(which could include public relations, gameday operations, business, or the internal working of
the Club), to further supplement academic knowledge with practical experience.
WHAT SETS YOU APART:
The Athletic Trainer Intern delivers the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Orlando
Pride. In this capacity, the Athletic Trainer manages injury prevention strategies, evaluation,
treatment, and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems. The Athletic Trainer works under
the direction and supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.
The ideal candidate will be resourceful, engaging, and positive with a desire to further develop
a rewarding career in sports medicine
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform as an athletic training student and deliver first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, develop rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and on-pitch early and mid-stage rehab.
- Gain experience as part of a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nutritionists, massage therapists, sport scientists, performance coaches and interns.
- Learn how to develop and deliver care programs under the guidance and support of the athletic training staff.
- Assist with setting up hydration and cooling station setup for training sessions and games with the team.
- Learn how to and assist with triaging, referral, and reporting to Head Athletic Trainer.
- Assist with the maintenance of an up-to-date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with monitoring the athletic training room ensuring a clinically safe, clean, and organized area.
- Learn how to and assist with the ordering, maintaining, and keeping inventory of supplies and clinical equipment.
- Support in packing of all supplies for home and away games.
- Comply with all OSHA Standards and regulations including blood borne pathogens.
- Comply with all League medical policies and protocols.
- Learn how to and assist with medical assistance, support, and match coverage with the 1st team athletic training staff.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in athletic training. Candidates must be able to receive credit for participating in our internship program.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Maintaining highest level of professionalism and confidentiality within a pro-team environment is required.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability.
- Possess a positive, engaging, and professional personality.
- Ability to attain and maintain SafeSport certification.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Strong understanding and passion for the sport of soccer is preferred.
- Ability to work nontraditional hours in nontraditional settings, including holidays, nights and weekends.
