We are looking for an Academy Physiotherapist (sessional) to join us on a casual basis and provide vital pitch side medical cover for U9-U16 matches and training sessions throughout the Academy season.
Working closely with our Lead Academy Physiotherapist and Head of Academy Performance, you will proactively assist in the screening, monitoring and assessment of all Academy players as well as the treatment and rehabilitation of all injured players aged 8-16 years.

Your day-to-day
- Deliver pitch-side medical cover - you will provide home and away match cover for Academy players across the Foundation and Youth Development Phases (U9–U16), ensuring injuries are managed safely and promptly
- Maintain clinical readiness and compliance - you will hold and renew ITMMiF pitch-side emergency first aid qualifications and operate in line with Premier League, FA, CSP and HCPC standards
- Provide high-quality injury assessment and treatment - you will diagnose, treat and manage injuries to a high clinical standard, offering immediate care and clear advice to players and parents
- Plan and deliver rehabilitation programmes - you will devise, implement and review effective rehabilitation plans to optimise player recovery, reduce recurrent injury and minimise time lost from training and matches
- Monitor health data and support injury prevention - you will collect and analyse injury and health data, contributing to evidence-led strategies to reduce injury risk and improve player availability
- Maintain professional clinical records and reporting - you will complete accurate clinical notes and report all injuries to the Lead Academy Physiotherapist and full-time Academy physiotherapists following clinics and match cover
- Communicate and collaborate effectively - you will liaise with players, parents and coaching staff, working closely with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist to safeguard player welfare and align return-to-play decisions
- Contribute to departmental development and safeguarding - you will actively engage in CPD and service development while adhering to Child Protection, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunity policies
What we are looking for
- Qualified in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy- you hold a BSc or MSc degree level qualification
- Credible expertise - you are HCPC or equivalent Registered and hold FA Level 4 ITMMiF or FA Level 5 ATMMiF
- Exceptional track record- you come with a successful and verifiable record in enhancing the physical development of young players, as well as a background in assessing, treating and rehabilitating injuries of youth athletes aged 8 to 16 years
- Manual handling and clinical reasoning experience- your approach to assessing and treating injured Academy players is outstanding
- In-depth knowledge of typical pathologies- you know the issues that can present with the injured adolescent athlete and you're confident in your ability to manage these effectively to ensure a safe and effective return to full competition
- Proficient with injury management- you're well equipped with solid knowledge on screening, monitoring, assessing, treating and rehabilitating youth athletes
- Excellent communication skills- you're able to communicate effectively and collaborate with the multidiscipline team and key colleagues involved in the care of the Academy player
- Flexibility and adaptability- you're proactive and versatile in your approach and have a willingness to be flexible when needs be
- Energy and enthusiasm- you are an excellent role model and proud of your ability to enthuse and inspire young athletes
Position of Trust- As someone in a position of trust role involving regular, direct contact with children or vulnerable adults you will be expected to uphold high standards of conduct to prevent abuse, including sexual, physical, or emotional harm. This role requires you to keep updated with both Club and FA Safeguarding training and education
