FA Learning is investing in its data architecture, infrastructure and analytical maturity. This role is the department's first specialist data analyst position, created to establish & embed rigorous data processes, clear governance and high-quality analysis that underpin confident, evidence-informed decision making.

To enable high-quality decision making within Learning & Innovation (L&I) and across the department by delivering trusted, insight-led dashboards and reports, underpinned by a growing strong understanding of the business and its data.

The role will translate business needs into clear data requirements, supporting the ingestion, validation and use of data within a central data platform to improve data quality, consistency and accessibility.
The post holder will also contribute to the development of foundational data governance practices, promoting common definitions and self-service reporting, while acting as a reliable and proactive partner for stakeholders on data, insight and reporting needs.

Interviews will be held at The National Football Centre, St. George's Park on Wednesday 29th July 2026.

Please be aware that we work within a hybrid working policy. The expectation is that the team will work onsite a minimum of two to three days a week, depending on needs of the role. The contractual working location will be The National Football Centre, St. George's Park. Please ensure you can commit to this prior to submitting your application.

What will you be doing?

- Deliver high‑quality dashboards, reports, and insight that support L&I decision making and innovation drawing on multiple data sources of varying maturity
- Create, implement and contribute to the ongoing maintenance of high-quality dashboards and reporting that support division wide operation and strategic priorities
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the business, its current needs and future ambition. Proactively identifying opportunities to improve reporting, insight, and the use of data to support effective decision making
- Support the development and adoption of foundational data governance practices, including contributing to a business glossary, championing consistent data definitions, and reinforcing good data management behaviours across the department
- Oversee and enforce data policies, processes and standards for FA Learning in accordance with FA Group
- Enable effective data ingestion into the Data Science and Insights platform by aligning business requirements with structured data definitions and logic
- Develop and maintain self-serve dashboards and reporting tools that allow the department to run the business and make insight informed decisions. Upskilling and supporting colleagues appropriately
- Act as a trusted and responsive point of contact for data-related queries, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure insight is understood, appropriately interpreted, and effectively applied
- Lead on ad-hoc reporting and data requests to support operational processes and transitional repeated requests to suitable tools
- Form and contribute to a cross-division network of roles strengthening our data infrastructure and effectiveness, forming critical partnerships with Strategic Insight Leads x2, Digital Systems Lead, Learning Evaluation Lead, Business Administration Lead and Customer Service Lead
- Build effective relationships with FA Group colleagues to embed and align our data infrastructure across the group (Digital Technology Team)
- Executes additional tasks as required to meet the FA's changing priorities
- Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure that the highest standards of health, safety, and well-being can be maintained.
- As part of the FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:

Knowledge
•Technical expertise: You have advanced Power BI and Excel skills, with working knowledge of SQL and/or DAX
•Understanding of how data supports operational delivery and strategic decision-making within a large, complex organisation
•Awareness of the importance of data quality, data definitions, and basic data governance principles, including the use of shared terminology and consistent metric

Experience
•Integrating and analysing data from multiple sources and managing complex datasets
•Building Power BI reports according to business requirements
•Engaging stakeholders from across business divisions, driving key decisions and accountability
•Presenting insights in compelling ways, using storytelling, visualisation best practices, and non-technical language

Skills
•Communicative style: You can convey complex, technical concepts simply and effectively, adapting your communication for different audiences

Beneficial to have:

Knowledge
•Knowledge of centralised data platforms or data ingestion processes, including how business data is structured, transferred, and validated within an organisation
•Familiarity with organisational data governance operating models, data ownership concepts, or data stewardship practices

Experience
•Experience contributing to or maintaining artefacts such as a business glossary, data definitions, or reporting standards
•Experience working in a regulated, public-facing, or values-led organisation where accuracy, consistency, and trust in data are critical
•Experience working in a learning focused organisation, function or team

Skills
•Ability to support or deliver basic training, guidance, or documentation to help colleagues use data and self‑service dashboards effectively
•Confidence challenging unclear or inconsistent data requirements and advocating for agreed definitions and standards

Currently, we are working within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model, and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
