Derbyshire FA is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Referee Development Officer to lead the recruitment, development and support of referees across Derbyshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in sports, football or workforce development who is passionate about supporting grassroots football and creating positive experiences for referees at all levels.
Salary: £28,000 - £34,000
Location: Derbyshire FA, Stadium Business Court, Millennium Way, Derby, DE24 8HP

Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Recruit and develop new referees across the county.
- Deliver referee education courses and development programmes.
- Support referee retention and progression through the refereeing pathway.
- Work with leagues, clubs and key stakeholders to improve referee coverage and standards.
- Promote diversity, inclusion and safeguarding within refereeing.
- Provide support to referees, including those facing challenging situations.
- Organise referee events, awards and development initiatives.
- Assist with registration, compliance and administration processes.
Derbyshire FA are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in sports, football or referee development.
- Knowledge of grassroots football and the Laws of the Game.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and managing data.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with partners and volunteers.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering The FA Grassroots Football Strategy, The FA Referee Strategy and Derbyshire FA's local priorities. The role will focus on recruiting, retaining and developing referees, delivering referee education programmes, and creating inclusive progression pathways that support officials at every level of the grassroots game.
