DONNA ISD SUMMARY, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

SUB-VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH 

Summary

Assist the Head Coach in every capacity to develop skills and abilities to excel in the given sports assigned.  Help contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics.  Will assist the head coach with the athletic growth and development of each and every student-athlete in his/her sport.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Assist with the implementation plan on the Head Coach's Philosophy, Defensive/Offensive Strategies, and Instructional Techniques to meet the needs and improve the athletic abilities of student-athletes in the sport assigned.
2. Assist with the Management, and Supervision of all athletic activities, games, practices, and locker rooms.
3. Promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
4. Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
5. Helps with the proper care of all equipment used in his/her sport/team and helps with the inventory of all uniforms and equipment.
6. Be up to date with all UIL rules, regulations, and compliance items.
7. Monitor Student Eligibility and Criteria for Extracurricular Participation.
8. Helps Head Coach with Travel Arrangements, Meal arrangements, and Officials’ paperwork for games home and away.
9. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practices, and school-related events in accordance with the UIL and School Code of Conduct.  
10. Establish and maintain an open line of communication with parents, teachers, and administrators.  
11. Work with the High School Trainer to ensure all proper paperwork is in place via Rank-One.
12. Accept all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
