About the opportunity:A new, unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for someone exceptional to join us and head up a new Performance Lifestyle department within our Men’s First Team Senior Leadership Team and be our new Head of Performance Lifestyle.

This pioneering role will ensure players are supported to achieve sustained peak performance through a holistic approach encompassing wellbeing, psychology, player support, lifestyle support.

The Performance Lifestyle function aims to support the strategic goals of the football club by delivering a comprehensive, joined-up and systemic function that supports the person, the professional and the player to perform better, more often.

Other Key Responsibilities as part of the role include:

Men’s First Team Performance Lifestyle Leadership

- Working closely with coaches, sports science, medical team and player support to integrate lifestyle support within the daily performance environment
- Supporting players in managing the psychological, social and personal demands of elite football
- Creating proactive strategies that promote resilience, balance, and long-term wellbeing

Centre of Excellence Leadership

- Lead the strategic development of Performance Lifestyle across the Club, acting as a Centre of Excellence lead.
- Provide leadership and alignment across:
- Men’s First Team
- Women’s First Team
- Boys and Men’s Academy
- Girls and Women’s Academy
- Oversee and integrate the club-wide provision across:

Performance Lifestyle

- Player Support
- Psychology

Collaboration & Culture

- Promoting a high-performance culture aligned with the Club’s values and standards
- Supporting the integration of psychology, wellbeing and lifestyle support into all football programmes.
- Contribute to the continuous development of best practice in elite player support.

Who we are looking for:We are looking for a highly experienced sports psychology leader who combines elite performance understanding with exceptional people skills, capable of operating within a high-pressure sporting environment, and has managed within multi-disciplinary support programmes.

You will bring:

- Significant experience delivering Performance Lifestyle / Player Support / Player Development programmes in elite sport
- A strong understanding of the psychological, social and personal demands of professional athletes
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- The ability to operate with absolute discretion and trust
- Experience in programme design, strategy and leadership
- A passion for supporting athletes as people, not just performers.

Essential qualifications needed for this role include:

- BSc (Hons), MSc in Psychology/Sports Psychology
- Professional Qualification from either BPS QSEP, BASES SEPAR or HCPC Approved Professional Doctorate
- HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist

The role is permanent and will be based at Finch Farm training ground in Liverpool (Halewood), however there is expected frequent travel involved within the post, working 40 hours per week plus matchdays.
