Based at City Football Academy in Manchester, this full-time permanent role offers the chance to support the rehabilitation and return-to-performance of Academy players. You will help create the right environment for injured players to recover well, progress safely and return to training with confidence, while contributing to the wider development of talented young footballers.

Within our Academy Performance Services team, we support the development of young players through evidence-led rehabilitation, physical development and collaborative performance support. Working closely with medical, physiotherapy and coaching colleagues, we help create an environment where players can recover well, build confidence and continue progressing across the Academy pathway.

The Role

This role gives you the opportunity to support the rehabilitation and return-to-performance of Academy players. You will help deliver tailored programmes that respond to individual needs, enabling injured players to progress safely, rebuild physical qualities and return to training with confidence.

Working across monitoring, testing and player management, you will use objective data and day-to-day observation to inform loading, progression and programme adjustments. You will also help maintain accurate records and support consistent rehabilitation processes that reflect Academy physical performance principles.

Alongside medical, physiotherapy, coaching and physical performance colleagues, you will contribute to a joined-up interdisciplinary environment where player welfare, development and long-term outcomes remain central. You will also help model Academy standards and behaviours, supporting a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

⚽ Experience delivering physical performance, rehabilitation or strength and conditioning support within youth sport or academy environments.
⚽ Understanding of adolescent athlete development, including growth, maturation and the physical factors that can influence injury risk and performance.
⚽ Ability to plan and deliver individualised rehabilitation and return-to-performance support for young players.
⚽ Experience using monitoring, testing, profiling or player management data to inform decisions about progression and loading.
⚽ Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
⚽ A relevant degree, with UKSCA accreditation or work towards accreditation, plus FA safeguarding and emergency aid certificates
