POSITION OVERVIEW:
New York City FC is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Senior Manager, Community Engagement to help lead how the Club engages with communities across New York City.
Reporting to the Director of Community Development, this role combines strategy, relationship management, and execution to strengthen the Club's community impact and visibility. The Senior Manager will lead cross-functional coordination, steward key external partnerships, oversee flagship engagement initiatives, and ensure community priorities are integrated across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful planner, exceptional writer, and collaborative leader who enjoys building relationships, developing new ideas, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as a strategic partner, helping translate departmental priorities into clear plans and successful execution.
- Lead Community Department meetings, project planning, and follow-up, ensuring initiatives remain on track and aligned with broader Club priorities.
- Drive collaboration across Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Human Resources, Business Intelligence, Ticketing, Stadium Operations, and other departments.
- Coordinate stakeholders, monitor deliverables, and maintain accountability across key initiatives.
Partnerships & Engagement
- Develop and manage relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, community-based organizations, city agencies, civic leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships through programs, events, fundraising, volunteerism, and matchday experiences.
- Support community access initiatives connected to Etihad Park, including stakeholder engagement and key community commitments.
- Represent New York City FC and City in the Community at meetings, events, and community forums.
Programs, Events & Fundraising
- Lead development and execution of key engagement initiatives, including the Player Ambassador Program, Employee Volunteer Program, MLS community initiatives, community matchday integrations, and the Club's 50/50 raffle.
- Develop and deliver community events, fundraising initiatives, stakeholder receptions, volunteer opportunities, and supporter engagement experiences.
- Create meaningful opportunities that connect fans, partners, players, and community organizations to City in the Community's mission.
- Evaluate programs and recommend improvements that increase participation, visibility, and impact.
Visibility & Impact
- Increase awareness of New York City FC and City in the Community's work across the Club, New York City, Major League Soccer, and the broader community.
- Partner with Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, and Business Intelligence to elevate community initiatives through events, content, social media, storytelling, and internal communications.
- Lead development of the Club's Community Impact Report, executive presentations, award submissions, newsletters, and stakeholder communications.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the Club's reputation as a leader in community engagement and social impact.
Department Operations
- Support annual budget development, fiscal planning, and departmental reporting.
- Manage full-time and part-time staff, consultants, and volunteers supporting community engagement initiatives.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and success measures that ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Continuously improve processes, strengthen collaboration, and identify new opportunities to expand the Club's community impact.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5 to 7 years of experience in community engagement, partnership marketing, client management, nonprofit leadership, sports, corporate social responsibility, or a related field.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving projects from strategy through execution.
- Strong event planning, fundraising, and partnership management experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing executive presentations, impact reports, award submissions, and strategic communications.
- Strong project management, organizational, and budget management skills.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience managing staff, consultants, volunteers, or project teams.
- Passion for community engagement and a commitment to creating meaningful social impact through sport.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
- Must be able to matchdays, community events which may be at night and on weekends and holidays
- Local travel throughout New York City is required.
COMPENSATION:
This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 and is not overtime eligible. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
