The Wayfinding and Signage Manager reports to the Dressing and Signage Senior Manager, serving as a key member of the FIFA27 Operations team in close collaboration with the Venue Management team and other stakeholders.
The FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027™ requires outstanding look and feel project to be delivered in a seamless tournament experience. The Wayfinding and Signage Manager is responsible for leading the wayfinding and signage implementation, operations and delivery strategy from planning through implementation to closure across all FIFA Official Sites.
This position is responsible for overseeing the delivery of a world class wayfinding and signage project for all target groups attending matches of the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027™, ensuring that the wayfinding and signage is up to FIFA quality standards.
They will be initially responsible for the technical development of wayfinding signage guidelines and principles in collaboration with the contracted provider(s), department senior team and the other Cluster Managers. Subsequently, the candidate will be responsible for directly overseeing the wayfinding signage planning and implementation at stadiums and other official sites.
In all aspects of their role, they will ensure that key project deliverables and deadlines are met and will be required to input into strategic project decisions taken by senior members of the team. They will oversee contracted provider operations, ensuring that they are managed efficiently while monitoring budgetary spend within agreed limits. In addition, they will take guidance from other cluster managers to ensure that precedents and strategic directives from the Head of Dressing and Signage and Senior Dressing and Signage Manager are followed as required by the members of the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contributing to the delivery of a world class dressing and signage project for all target groups attending matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™.
- Providing expertise in assisting in the compilation of technical wayfinding signage guidelines, principles and templates.
- Inputting into the development of the wayfinding signage system(s) used to assist with the planning of the project.
- Providing strategic input into the development and implementation of the wayfinding signage kit of parts to be utilized at all official sites.
- Overseeing the wayfinding signage planning and implementation at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ stadiums in Brazil.
- Working with other Cluster Managers ensuring that precedents are followed to guarantee consistency across all tournament stadiums.
- Oversight of contracted provider planning, production and implementation for all sites within the sites.
- Constant monitoring of the budgetary impact of allocated wayfinding operations and reporting updates to senior department members.
- Adhering to project deadlines and deliverables as instructed by senior members of the department.
- Daily liaison with other members of the wider Dressing and Signage team to ensure efficient planning and delivery is optimized at all stages of the project.
- Liaising with site owners and operators as required to gain approval on implementation plans.
- Attending department-specific and organization site visits at both assigned sites and potentially additional official sites.
- Acting as the main wayfinding point of contact for Dressing and Signage Venue Managers and other Functional Area Venue Managers during the implementation phase of the project.
- Assisting with the recruitment of Dressing and Signage project team members in collaboration with the senior department leads if required.
- Ensuring the needs of internal FIFA functional areas are captured and delivered against.
- Contribution to project management and knowledge management initiatives including event debriefs, and knowledge capture and documentation activities.
- Ability to possibly be relocated to a Host City for up to three months in to act as a Dressing and Signage Venue Manager at an allocated stadium during the event periods.
- Relevant experience in delivering wayfinding and signage projects for events of a similar scale to FIFA World Cups, Olympic Games etc. and experience managing major sports events in a role that included the delivery of comprehensive wayfinding and signage related activities.
- Experience in devising technical guidelines and wayfinding signage kit of parts for large-scale events.
- A working understanding of the technical aspects of delivering dressing and signage projects (i.e. production methods, installation techniques, materials etc.)
- Strong understanding of stadium wayfinding and signage requirements and large-scale temporary installations.
- Budget management experience on complex and multi-faceted events and projects.
- Experience in managing providers of services for world-class events.
- Knowledge of event planning, requirements and event project management processes for large sporting events.
- Significant stakeholder management experience across multiple organizations and departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and implement effective solutions.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education).
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools.
- The role will require extensive use of the appointed Dressing and Signage Supplier(s) project, content and scoping management systems so a readiness to learn new technology processes, systems and programs is essential.
- The role will require attending site visits and being away from home for periods of time, including on-site attendance during the tournament period. Right to work in Brazil.
