Safeguarding Manager
Location: This is a hybrid role with opportunities to work remotely from the Berks & Bucks FA office (Milton Park, OX14 4SB), home and around the County.
Salary: Band 3 (£29,785 - £36,771) per annum, dependent on experience.
Hours: 35 hours per week. (Requirement to work evenings and weekends in line with the demands of the role.)
Contract: Full time - Permanent
The opportunity

The organisation is seeking a passionate and experienced Safeguarding Manager, or an individual with strong safeguarding experience and expertise, to play a vital role in ensuring that children and vulnerable adults not only feel safe, but actively participate and thrive in the game.
This is a key leadership role within the organisation, helping to embed a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and where safe, fun football environments are the standard across local communities.
About the role
As Safeguarding Manager, youwill lead and coordinate all safeguarding activity across Berks & Bucks FA. Working closely with clubs, leagues, volunteers and national FA colleagues, you will ensure safeguarding standards are upheld, concerns are managed effectively, and best practice is embedded at every level of the grassroots game.
You will:
• Lead the delivery of safeguarding across the County FA, ensuring compliance with FA policies, legislation and the Safeguarding 365 framework
• Manage and respond to safeguarding and child protection concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Provide expert advice, guidance and training to clubs, leagues and welfare officers
• Build strong relationships with key partners including statutory agencies, The FA and local stakeholders
• Carry out club visits, audits and monitoring to promote safe, positive football environments
• Champion a proactive approach to safeguarding through education, awareness and continuous improvement

About you
Whether an established Safeguarding Manager or a professional with significant safeguarding experience in a sport, community, education or similar environment, you will bring valuable expertise to the role.
You will be a confident and compassionate professional with a strong understanding of safeguarding and welfare practice, alongside excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle complex and sensitive situations with integrity.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience or qualifications in safeguarding, welfare or child protection
• Ideally bring experience of safeguarding within a sporting or community setting
• Understand safeguarding legislation and best practice for children and adults at risk
• Be able to manage challenging situations, conflict and sensitive information professionally
• Be an excellent communicator, able to influence and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders
• Be highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
• Share the organisation's commitment to inclusion, equality and creating safe environments in sport
