Position Summary

The Boys Soccer Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the school’s boys soccer program in alignment with district policies and the standards of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA). The coach will foster student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success, including supporting athletic growth beyond the traditional season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct daily practices, training sessions, and team meetings
  • Develop game strategies and oversee in-game coaching decisions
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities
  • Coordinate game schedules, transportation, and equipment needs with the athletic department
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, and statistics
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
  • Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic progress and eligibility
  • Enforce district, conference, and MSHSAA rules and regulations
  • Plan, organize, and lead voluntary off-season workouts, conditioning sessions, and skill development opportunities in compliance with MSHSAA and district guidelines
  • Participate in coaches’ meetings, professional development, and district-required trainings

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Previous coaching experience in soccer (high school or higher preferred)
  • Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategies, and skill development
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with student-athletes of varying skill levels

Certifications & Requirements

  • Must meet all MSHSAA coaching requirements
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Completion of required background check and district hiring procedures
  • Completion of any state-mandated coaching or safety training

Work Schedule

  • Practices typically held after school hours
  • Evening and occasional weekend games
  • Preseason practices begin in early August; season runs through fall playoffs
  • Off-season workouts may occur before or after school or during summer, as permitted by district and MSHSAA guidelines

Compensation

  • Stipend based on district salary schedule for coaching positions
