POSITION SUMMARY:
Part-time role responsible for officiating soccer games, ensuring fair play, and enforcing the rules of the game.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Officiate games, making calls on fouls, violations, and other game events.
- Maintain control of the game and ensure player safety.
- Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and other staff.
- Keep up-to-date with rule changes and interpretations.
- Prepare accident/incident reports as needed.
- Embrace and model the JCC Internal Service Standards of Respect, Gratitude, Communication, The Golden Rule, and Ownership/Accountability
- Other duties may be assigned
- Must be able to work Sunday afternoons for several hours in the fall
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, regulations and scoreboard operations.
- Previous experience officiating basketball games preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Physical fitness to keep up with the pace of the game.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the physical acuity to traverse the length of the basketball court continually during the course of play at the same pace as the players. It requires the physical ability to stop and start, pivot, turn, bend, kneel, reach, raise arms above head and use hands/arms to signal to players. It requires the visual acuity to see both near and the far (the length of the soccer field); it requires the vocal ability to communicate in a loud manner in a noisy environment.
