What is the role?
We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated Sports Therapist to lead the medical provision for our U21 Professional Game Academy (PGA) squad while providing integrated support to the Women’s First Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-performance football environment, playing a key role in player welfare, injury management, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation. You will work closely with coaches, sports scientists, physiotherapists, and performance staff to ensure players are physically prepared to train, compete, and progress successfully through the player pathway.
What will you be doing?
As Sports Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding medical support to the U21 squad, overseeing injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play programmes. You will also support the Women’s First Team medical provision as required, helping to maintain high standards of care across the club.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of players from academy through to first-team level, ensuring continuity of medical care and supporting optimal performance.

You are an experienced Sports Therapist with a passion for elite sport and player development. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and have excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills. You enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and are committed to delivering exceptional standards of player care, welfare and performance support.
Essential Skills and Experience
Degree in Sports Therapy and membership/accreditation with the relevant professional body (e.g. The Society of Sports Therapists).
Proven experience working in an elite or high-performance sporting environment.
Experience assessing, diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries.
Experience delivering pitch-side emergency aid and trauma management.
Experience designing and implementing injury prevention and return-to-play programmes.
Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong understanding of athlete welfare, safeguarding and professional standards in sport.
Experience maintaining accurate and confidential medical records.
Current Professional Indemnity Insurance.
UKAD Clean Sport certification, ITMMiF qualification, FA Safeguarding Certificate and Enhanced DBS.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience within professional football, particularly a Women’s Super League (WSL) or Academy environment.
Experience supporting athletes across academy, U21 and first-team pathways.
Knowledge of female athlete health and performance.
Experience using athlete management systems and electronic medical record platforms.
Additional qualifications in Strength & Conditioning, Sports Massage, Soft Tissue Therapy or Rehabilitation.
