Position: Varsity Head Football Coach
Reports to: Activities Director

Sibley East School District is seeking a positive, motivated, and student-centered individual to serve as the Varsity Head Football Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the football program, foster positive relationships with student-athletes, and promote excellence in athletics, academics, sportsmanship, leadership, and character development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Organize, supervise, and lead the varsity football program.
• Develop and implement practice plans that promote skill development, teamwork, player safety, and competitive success.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, resilience, and personal growth.
• Provide leadership and direction for the entire football program by collaborating with middle school, junior varsity, and assistant coaches to ensure consistency in philosophy, expectations, and player development.
• Develop off-season training, strength and conditioning, and skill development opportunities in collaboration with school staff and coaching personnel.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, coaches, school personnel, and community members.
• Ensure compliance with all school district, conference, and Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) rules and regulations.
• Promote academic achievement, attendance, and positive citizenship among student-athletes.
• Coordinate team activities, equipment needs, scheduling, and overall program operations.
• Assist with organizing youth football opportunities that promote long-term program growth and community engagement.
• Attend required coaches' meetings, rules interpretation meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or Building Principal.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Demonstrated knowledge of football fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, player development, and game management.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, staff, and community members.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment that prioritizes player health and well-being.
• Ability to meet MSHSL coaching requirements.

Preferred:

• Previous football coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
• Experience leading or coordinating a football program.
• Experience working with adolescent students.
• Current Minnesota teaching license or experience working in educational settings.
• Commitment to developing the entire football program from youth through varsity levels.
