The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 (FWWC2027) will take place in June and July 2027, across eight stadiums in Brazil.

Reporting to the Senior Catering Manager, the Food Safety Manager is responsible to ensure that the principles of Food Safety are incorporated into all operations relating to food and hydration from the planning stage through to the end of FWWC2027.

This includes services at competition and non-competition venues for multiple client groups such as workforce, media, broadcast, teams, match officials, ceremonies, and youth programme, in close collaboration with all stakeholders.

The Food Safety Manager will be a key member of the Strategy & Planning team, and work in close collaboration with the Health Authority and other key individuals responsible for delivering catering efforts for the FWWC2027.

This role will be responsible for providing technical support for the planning and execution of operations, ensuring catering services of the highest quality throughout the tournament. In addition, this role is responsible for preparing and managing technical documentation, conducting supplier audits, and developing, designing and monitoring a set of food safety indicators and specific objectives.

The Food Safety Manager must work closely with the Senior Catering Services Manager and the entire team to ensure that the food served meets hygiene and health standards. The position ensures the consistency of catering services across all venues throughout the tournament, in line with the agreed quality requirements.

This position requires effective and efficient management of food operations, seamless coordination with FIFA’s functional areas, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. Key areas of focus include transparency, communication, problem-solving, innovation, issue escalation, and the use of reporting tools to guarantee operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Legal Standardization: Harmonize national health and safety requirements with the municipal legislation of each host city
• Assist with Supplier Approval: Audit industrial kitchens and cold-chain transport
• Development of technical documentation for FWWC2027 and validation of suppliers’ documentation.
• Create Contingency Plans
• Menu Validation: Assess microbiological risks of proposed dishes, eliminating high-risk ingredients
• Workflow Design: Layout of temporary and existing kitchens to ensure correct workflows
• Full Traceability
• Food Chain Control – Cold and Hot
• Define minimum hygiene and sanitation standards with suppliers
• Ensure water potability
• Allergen Management
• Audits of catering services; manage local teams to carry out daily inspections of stadium operations
• Remote Coordination: Implement an integrated digital food safety management system for data collection and analysis
• Government Liaison: Act as the focal point for contact and rapid response with the Health Surveillance Authority (ANVISA/local bodies) in each region

Fluent in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)

Education
• Professionals with degrees in Food Engineering, Nutrition, Biology, Pharmacy, and/or related fields in Food Safety.
• Brazilian Portuguese and Intermediate level of English (conversation)
• Strong administrative and IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience
• Huge experience in food safety at events, in the food industry, and/or in industrial kitchens.
• Experience in team management and training.
• Knowledge of food preparation processes in traditional cuisine and at Cock & Chill.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems—ISO 22000, HACCP, and others.
• Application of Food Safety Concepts in Operational and Production Planning in an Industrial Kitchen or food industry.
• Advanced Knowledge of Brazilian Public Health Legislation - ANVISA
• In-depth knowledge of allergen management and labelling for end customers
• Proven strong record of experience in execution catering services for complex events involving multiple venues, stakeholders and authorities.
• Knowledge of event planning and event project management processes.
• Excellent customer service experience, with references for excellence.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent communication and crisis management skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and provide decisive leadership.
• Flexibility when faced with ambiguity or constant change
